About Us

The History of IsoStore and Our Line of IsoDoor

The first iteration of our IsoDoor was built around 2008. What seemed like a behemoth of a door at the time was ultimately just a major disappointment once finally tested in 2010. Likely similar to results of many DIY sound door builders that think a heavy door means a well performing door, our original IsoDoor was over 200 pounds and rated barely better than a 1-3/4" solid wood door. Back to the drawing board for us, leading to multiple versions to resolve issues we learned from the first round of testing, mainly from resonance problems and seal performance. Then came our second round of testing, then our third, fourth, and fifth and final round--for now. Several different door styles were tested, as well as seal configurations, and communicating assemblies. There is a lot that we learned from our unusually extensive testing and those results certainly shape our production and understanding of sound control doors to this day.

Our official release of the IsoDoor SD and HD was in 2012, with the IsoDoor V releasing in 2016. All production takes place at our top secret, closed to the public, facility in Boise, Idaho. All in all, a standard door shop ran by former cabinet builders converted into sound control door fabricators. We custom build and sell direct to anyone from our retail site isostore.com, as well as private label for a handful of retailers. Our doors aren't the best solution for every project, as we don't offer UL rated doors or steel fabrication, but for our corner of the market, our customers couldn't be happier. If you have any questions about who we are, our doors, or anything in between, feel free to drop us a line.
